This far I have made two spoons out of the hawthorn I got. A small eating spoon, and a soup-spoon where I experimented with putting a crank in the bowl. I thoroughly enjoy carving again, but I do notice that I really am out of practice. My axe-swings are less accurate and less confident. While this might be a good combo it does slow the work down, and make it less good. Contrary to me, the hawthorn is great. It carves nice and clean. So, enough blabbering for now. Here are some pictures:
The soup-spoon (the larger of the two) has a really thin bowl that lets through light. While this might not be great strength-wise is looks really nice. And I think that for eating purposes it will be fine. Its good to be back on the tools.
