Finally! After almost a month without carvingwood I found some freshly felled hawthorn today. I took a bit home.
I have never carved hawthorn before, so I am anxious to try it out. I hope that I`ll have time to get to the choppingblock somewhere in the next few days. At the very least I`ll have saturdaymorning and sunday to carve.
For something completely different that I am also excited about: Today I took delivery of some brewing-equipment. I had ordered a 5L demijohn (brew-flask) an airlock and some yeast. I will try to make an elderberry-port, but I have a feeling that this might be the beginning of a new hobby. I initially wanted to start out making mead, but that seems to take two years. Since I do not know where I`ll be next year, let alone in two, I`ll start with a quicker brew. I went out to scout for elderberries today, but they aren`t ripe yet. Maybe next week... I will document the process here. It is my first time brewing anything so I hope I won`t make any major beginners mistakes.
